HISTORIC PROVENANCE

Our Bust of Julius Caesar is inspired by a sculpture (ca. 1512–14) of the Roman leader by Andrea di Pietro di Marco Ferruci’s (Italian, 1465–1526). The original, now in The Met collection, boasts the ornate a l’antica style fashionable in Florentine sculpture during the 15th and early 16th centuries.
